*warning, suggestion largely written in flavor text faux-backstory because I do that sometimes*
Greetings gentlemen. I am pleased to inform you that we now have 99.999% of Grid 12 infected and under our control. While this may be assuring to you all, I'd like to remind you that we have not won until we have reached 100% infection status. Origin and its cleansing protocols have proven annoyingly resilient, and that .001% will end up our undoing if we don't get it in check quickly. There are new "Origin" like sockets popping up every day, and it's only a matter of time before they begin outpacing our ability to infect the grid.
To overcome this nuisance, I present to you the Grid Reclamation Unit, or G.R.U. for short. The G.R.U. is unlike any other unit we have on the grid. Not only is it mobile, but, combined, three times the size of our data drilling stations, and with equal fire power. The G.R.U. is a 3 piece unit, each sphere linked to the next, sporting triple linked shields taking 1000 damage a piece, and 50k units of armor.
The leading sphere detects uninfected space and uses it to trace a path to the nearest socket that has been reclaimed - it sports the same deadly ability as our watch towers to corrupt space, and also sports a massive set of jaws for consuming anything in its path. On reaching a socket, it begins the process of consuming these annoying "facilities" that weaken our grip on the grid, slowly decreasing the power of the socket until it's no longer a problem. We're still researching a method of removing these sockets entirely, but we're unable to find one at this time.
The middle sphere acts as the defensive unit for the entire G.R.U. It repairs both the front and rear spheres at a rate of 20 armor per second, 3 medium lasers on each side with 45 degree firing arcs, a rocket pod on each "corner", 2 long range lasers at either end.
The rear sphere is the pièce de résistance. Its only weapon is a large scattergun turret at its center. The scattergun's load is too heavy to turn or fire quickly, but one shot will strip the shields and a good chunk of health off anything in its path. The feature that will turn the tide in our favor, gentleman, is its ability to almost instantly reinfect the grid it passes over. Unfortunately, it cannot place better than medium size structures on normal grid; however, when the lead sphere consumes enough grid shards from facilities, it can place even our largest structures, protecting sockets from being taken back.
We can conquer this grid, and we will with the help of the G.R.U.

So essentially the G.R.U. is the enemy's means of reclaiming the territory we take. It will only spawn once at least 3 regions have been conquered and if at least 5 players are on the server. The G.R.U. Begins at one corner of the conquered square and begins to reclaim it by placing enemy stations back on it working counter clockwise. When it encounters a town it begins the process of consuming all facilities, each row it empties downgrades the city one level until there's nothing left, then it resumes its counter clockwise spiral until it finishes, whereupon it will move to the nearest socket and wait for players to try and claim it.
The enemy is intended to stand out in that:
1. Teamwork is a requirement, you cannot solo it with any expediency.
2. It does not depend on minions to be difficult, though minions from laid and nearby structures will obviously help it out.
3. The enemy is highly mobile.
4. Enemy has world changing behavior
5. Enemy features a scattergun
Imagine a caterpillar like thing that slowly slinks along the map eating anything in its path, and pooping out enemies, while also fighting off players and you've got the gist of it.
