Overdrive got stuck in the on position again - this time there were people there to record it (renenutet should be posting a video soon - quicklite and tarbomb are also witness to the event). It seemed to turn on while I was in overdrive and had zoomed out, there was a little lag or jitter from people being on. I ran a few experiments: 1. Reengaging overdrive did not turn it off - it just gave me uber overdrive, I could eat large structures in 4 seconds or so. 2. Teleporting did not turn it off. 3. I decided to bite the big one for the greater good. Dying did, indeed, turn it off. (my pulchs ;- I, unfortunately didn't get to try changing tanks or spending an augment point to see if that turned it off (couldn't afford the augment point) - though those were my next experiments, and I'll run them if it happens again (anyone who this happens to should try them as well and post here). EDIT: The video Renenutet posted (thanks again!) 1:28 seconds and beyond is the best evidence, I was engaging overdrive while stuck in overdrive and instagibbing the grid control towers.

As you can see in the video there, so was I >_>. And I have to admit, from now on, everytime I overdrive my wildfire, I can't help but cross my fingers and hope I get that

I hope everyone gets the chance to be uber for a short while at some point.

Hi, thanks for the info and video. We think we know where the problem is happening, so what turns it off isn't as important as what causes it. The next time this happens to anyone, try to be as specific as you can about the circumstances. Here are some more questions for you hypevosa:
Did you change tanks during the initial overdrive duration?
Did you die during the initial overdrive duration?
Did you continue to see sparks flying from your tank after the initial overdrive duration (but while you were still experiencing the effects of the overdrive)?
Furthermore, if anyone else can provide a guide to reproducing this bug, it would help. We've tried being zoomed out, causing a low frame rate, and can't get it to reproduce.

To answer your questions: No, I did not change tanks during the initial overdrive duration No, I did not die during the initial overdrive duration I've never seen sparks flying from my tank during overdrive (pretty much never, I always think it's an enemy hitting me with something when it does happen) Here's all I recall about the situation: 1) There were about 4 people on 2) I was using my keyboard to control the tank 3) I was turning and driving away while zooming out simultaneously 4) Someone else was switching tanks 5) there was very slight lag, I couldn't tell if it was server or graphics 6) I had been playing for around half an hour to an hour 7) I had full pulchs 8) I was using the spiny screen camera 9) I had just successfully killed something using the overdrive I don't know what else to tell you.

Sir Null has become stuck in overdrive on the spectre, so this is not isolated to the wildfire.
Using an augment point in cooldown did not cause the overdrive to end.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I got stuck in overdrive in the valk the day before the valk got buffed. I had all the conditions that hype had except for full pulchs, so I can only guess that pulchs doesn't affect the overdrive.

The only overdrive I ever stuck into has been with avenger, before the nerf. As much as I wanted to repeat it, never succeeded.
By the way, since about build 47 whenever a good amount of action going on the flash freezes to a halt instead of getting enormous lags (rubberbanding, etc.)...

Cross link: Further notes on the stucking overdriveI managed to stuck overdrive on a Spectre. I've been next to a city again, attacking a super tank, when hypevosa logged in, and blasted into the minions. I didn't notice that much extra lag (which usually happens at such endevaours), but the overdrive nevertheless stuck. I'm not sure it has to do anything with the city edge we've been on, probably more like a faulty client behavior due to lag spike (maybe buffer overflow?). Can we get an explanation how the overdrive is working, to make more educated guesses? If it cannot be made public, then maybe in pm? I switched to another tank, which then wasn't in overdrive. Switching back to Spectre did not bring back overdrive either. Refreshing the client solves the problem too, while teleporting does not.

Yeah, I just encountered this 'stuck in overdrive' bug.
Here's what I was doing: Just connected a city within the origin sector (The city was discovered before I logged on but not connected). Upgraded the city to level 3 then attacked a super tank and realised I was stuck in overdrive.
Here's general details about what tank and such: (1) Using the spectre. (2) Spectre was already equipped when I logged in. (3) 2 people were on (Including myself). (4) We both connected the city and upgraded it to level 3. (5) Did not have full pulchs. (6) No sparks whilst being stuck in overdrive. (7) Super-overdrive when using the ability again. (8) Was not zooming in or out. (9) This was 5 minutes into the game. (10) It started whilst attacking a super tank or just before. (11) No lag
I could not stop overdrive unless I died or changed tanks, other ways to stop overdrive such as augmenting, spamming abilities, upgrading citied, connecting cities etc. did not work.
I thought it was due to upgrading a city and simultaneously using the overcharge ability but it did not get stuck when I tried it a second time. (New city connecting and upgrading to level 4).
