I wanted to see what would happen when we reached 10/10 research. I got the message "Victory achieved, the game will reset in 10 seconds." The map reset, which means all global bonuses are now 0 as well as cities etc.. I did get 1874 victory points though. Don't know if anyone who wasn't online at the time got theirs as well..
Sorry for wiping out everything everybody did. I didn't know it would do that.

That's just part of the game then, though I will miss my Frog line...
I do feel like the reset from reached 10/10 research is bad at the moment, but that will be because there is no use for Victory points yet. It just seems like we get sent back to the beginning.
I'm not sure of what's planned to happen when a group of players reach 10/10 research but right now it will just be a repeat.

Congrats!
The game is designed to be winnable, just as you can "win" a realm and go fight Oryx. We were hoping it would take a few weeks of work by hundreds of players, not 3 days of work by about 6. But we can increase the requirements and add new ones to prolong the game. And yes, you should want to win eventually, to get ahold of those sweet sweet victory points.

Well.....I sunk well over several million shards into those sockets to do it.
.......and I multiboxed them (another post maybe).
Anyway, I built the server back up to about 25% on all DPS sockets so everybody should at least be able to do some damage again. I'll get to finishing up my first playthrough thoughts & observations now.

Once there are multiple servers, I'd love to see the server stay up for a few days so that I can go back and see what the players collectively did. It's a victory. I want to savor it.

Is anybody else a little worried about this topic? Namely, that winning the game felt like a /bad/ thing?
Reaching a certain research level to win the game is not a good objective. To me, it feels intangible and arbitrary. I haven't actually seen level 9, but at level 8, the majority of the world map was still uncontrolled and filled with unkillable enemies. Other than the little icon on the side, it didn't feel like we were any closer to winning than when we were at level 4 or whatever.
I don't think there's anything that can be done about having the game reset once the end is reached; that's just the nature of the game. But will players feel so bad about losing their progress that they won't want people to end the game? If the only reward is victory points, then what motivation is there for players to get serious about putting shards into the tank upgrade buildings? The most efficient way to win would be to put all shards into labs and extractors only, with only the occasional boost, like damage or speed.
What I propose is to have the research level just be the method of achieving victory, not the victory itself. That is, once the global research level increases enough, certain other objectives become achievable. Whether those objectives are reaching and killing the Armada, or some other boss type enemy, I don't know. I'm sure you can think of something. If for example the Armada became the target, then defeating it would be the victory, and good/unique loot would be dropped, as well as victory points.

Is anybody else a little worried about this topic? Namely, that winning the game felt like a /bad/ thing? Yes. On one hand, I'm don't like the way the game is won right now. Nor do I like the way towns grow or the frontier grows or a lot of other things about the “big picture” game. On the other hand, I'd rather Rob & Co. spend more of their time on the controls, combat, and tactics at first, and then rework the big picture game after the small picture game is figured out…

I highly agree with both points (1.that victory is a waste right now and 2.that it's not the most imperative thing to deal with).
The reason it feels like a waste to win right now is because the only objectives we pursue at the moment are 1.unlock tanks 2.find prisms 3.increase global bonuses
So that we can kill the same 3 enemy sets over and over. There's quite a lot to be fleshed out.
The other (quite simple) thing is that the purpose of victory points have not been established yet. So the primary reward for victory isn't there, which obviously makes it feel dumb to achieve it.
If you could invest victory points into a boost aura (+x% damage for allies within a range of y, for example) or somesuch, I am willing to guess that we would be scrambling for victory rather than disappointed in it.
