Critical Feedback:
So, I played a bit again today... Perhaps not long enough, but I've come to more or less the same conclusions I had about the game as before.
Gameplay overall is boring. Add into that now that many areas are not doable alone (even in easy 'green' zones), the player population is miniscule, and the new death penalty can be quite harsh; makes for a frustrating game.
Personally, I don't play games to be bored or frustrated, so why do I keep coming back? The potential is there. Fortunately or unfortunately, Rob & Tim seem to be taking this game their own direction, which tends to be away from the potential that I thought I saw in it. Wether they see something better I guess remains to be seen. It's your game, Rob, I realize and respect that and encourage you to continue with what you think is best.
This is probably going to be my last post on these forums, so, as I see it, the game needs only two things:
Dynamic 'normal' gameplay:
However this is achieved doesn't matter, but something to make killing overworld structures (and everything else too) not boring and extremely repetitive.
Yes, there have been improvements to this since the last time I played, but if I were to endure the boredom long enough, get a few augments, I'm sure I could relearn structure patterns and snipe everything to oblivion similar to before. Having long range enemies is good, but that is only one aspect that could be explored. Buff/Nerf structures, player structures, mingling structures, big structures, small structures, etc. are only a small list of possibilities.
Players:
People who want to play the game, yes testing is necessary, but if there are players, there will be testers too. Having a core that is 'fun' would make this quite simple.
From the sound (or lack thereof) of things on the forums, people don't play the game anymore, there's only a few testers left who enjoy finding bugs and such.
I wish you the best, Rob & Tim, but I can't follow your vision for this game any more unless something drastic happens.
Best of luck to the fellow testers and players who are left.
Ood.
