Haven't played grid12 for a long time, think I stopped a while after paladin was released. Can someone give me a rundown of the new features and changes? I tried looking in game and reading the builds but its pretty overwhelming.
I don't have any idea about when you last played, but finding that date and reading up the build history will be the only sure-fire way to get you the answers. If you haven't yet, check out this link. Otherwise, just try the game out, and post any questions which come to mind.
I spent a lot of time rewriting the floor pane system. It uses significantly less CPU and memory and as a result, pane fade is now permanently enabled. The system should be less sloppy about letting you get off of the center of your pane circle too. To make this work, I had to ditch the Starcraft-like creep pane decay, and replace it with an all-at-once system. I've noticed (but can't reliably reproduce) a bug that occasionally draws a normal (non-creep, non-town) pane in white.
