There's really not much here, just two quick things: -I know there are no acocunts, but is there a cookie somewhere that I can copy to another computer? I often have a half hour to goof around at lunch - perfect for leveling every few days, but impractical for more than that. I find myself farming lenses during this time to try and access new content, instead of playing the new content. -EXP requirement increases: Are these supposed to be tested, or are they just there for experience tropes' sake? I don't mind, if they are; and I have no problem doing the work to level, I just didn't know if it was indeed supposed to take longer each time to level while we were testing. I think a flat requirement might be more effective if you want time spent on each tank. For that matter, it might not be a bad idea to lock everything but the new/updated tanks each build, until a certain amount of time has been put in on them, to encourage re-testing. In a larger community, this would probably be circumvented by idling through that time, but I have no problem putting in 20 or 30 minutes at least on updated version of old tanks, and I think most everyone else here would do the same. I know these are minor minor things, and I really just mean to identify them wiht this post. It's been a blast watching this game grow, and I'm super excited to play the new build when I get home tonight

Yes, there is a cookie that you can copy.
They're flash LSOs - from the Wikipedia page, the locations are:
On Microsoft Windows NT 5.x and 6.x, they are stored in:[20]
%APPDATA%\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\ %APPDATA%\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\ On Mac OS X, they are stored in:
~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects/ ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys/ On Linux or Unix, they are stored in:
~/.macromedia/Flash_Player/#SharedObjects/ ~/.macromedia/Flash_Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys/
The g12 cookies should be in a folder called "grid12" or "grid12.com"

Guys,
Yes, the login situation blows right now. I'm sorry about that. Cookie copying should work as a stopgap.
About making all tanks freely available...it's an interesting idea. Do we want more playtime on all the tanks, or do we want people to go through the "work to unlock it" procedure that real users will encounter later on? I'll have to consider this.
Thanks, Rob

Yeah, I didn't even mean to imply free - I just noticed that the first few levels the requirement was a couple thousand, and now it's up in the hundreds. At some point, scaling levels will be important, but right now some flat rate would even be fine, like 40k per level.

IMHO the level-up rates are fine as they are - I can unlock all the tanks in a few hours, which means that the system requires just enough effort to make obtaining the tanks a nontrivial (and rewarding) effort, without being excessively grindy. In other words, it's perfectly balanced right now. (Farming buildings is actually quite tedious and boring - it's the "big windfalls" (drill stations currently, and lens matching in the old builds where 40k+ combos were easy) that keep gridshard collecting fun and engaging.)
As for current testers - I personally don't have a problem with the current system, since my flash cookies are backed up and I stick to one machine only, but I can see how people testing on multiple machines would suffer. I think cutting the gridshard level-up requirements by a factor of 2-4 as an interim solution until persistent logins are implemented (whereupon the entire game would be wiped) would be a reasonable solution.
However, with the upcoming removal of resonators and resulting plummet in gridshard collection rates, the grid drop rates will definitely have to be increased (or the XP requirement for leveling up lowered) in order to maintain this balance.

Tarbomb,
This is a good compromise solution for until we get logins deployed.

so, speaking of accounts and whatnot....
Is there any chance I can get the name Stupidity back?
I had a....problem....with my computer, which caused me to lose my flash cookies. I discovered that the name is taken, even though there are no "accounts."
Which is interesting. I can see the pro/con of both, but I'd like to reclaim the name if possible.
