Hi everyone,
Tim and I just pushed build 40. Changes include:
* Define 5 facility trees, each with its own color
* Randomly choose 4 facility trees per town (duplicates allowed)
* Cap facility bonuses at max of 10x and min of .1x
* Fix building deposit rate bug
* Add ability to change account password
* Support flyer vs nonflyer and vehicle vs structure as facility effect categories
* Add triangular ("trilateral") enemy category and icon
* Add new large trilateral fortress: Delta Refinery
* Add triggers for Corsair: shield omnicharge (front shield invincible), (long, skinny) shotgun, gamma blast (removes 1/3rd of hp), repair burst (self and allies)
Tim spent a lot of time on the password stuff, which wasn't fun but was needed before we open up the game to more people. We are hoping to get an invite code system in place soon so that we'll all be able to invite others to play freely without worrying about undesirables hacking the game in its current fragile state. At that point we'll all be free to talk openly about the game as well.
There are currently 5 facility trees but only the orange one (top and bottom in Origin) has had much effort put into its design. The others are mostly cut/paste of the previous tree. I hope to work on the other trees a bit soon. I'd eventually like each tree to have a "personality"; currently the orange tree mostly affects small, square things, but this info isn't available to players anywhere.
Much work remains to tune the facility system so that bonuses don't run away and take the challenge of the game with them. Also, I'd like some facilities to affect others ("build this facility to get 10% off the price of other facilities in this town"). And we still need client-affecting facility effects such as hit points, damage and rate of fire.
