Kelsoo is right...strategies that involve shooting at things from outside of their range are boring, and I don't want to encourage boring things. So I'll either cap the maximum range you can have, or increase the range of the Zeta bomb toss.
Or you could remove hornet entirely. I mean... what's the point?
I agree with GB.
The hornet is a pretty cool tank because of it's range trigger. I've been using it as my main tank for everything as of late, and it's pretty capable on it's own (being underappreciated by the community at best), however take away it's ability to truly snipe things... and the whole tank just falls apart. Without that trigger in it's full glory, the tank might as well not exist, just let the Spectre be the only sniper.
If you don't want hornet swarms being the only method of killing the 'final' boss, add some minion distractions so that a team approach MUST be used. The herc is another viable tank to kill the Zeta, but right now it just doesn't do it as well as the hornet. Add in a bunch of flying minions, and you got yourself a predicament if everyone is only using a hornet.
If you don't want to go the minion route... make the whole Zeta ensemble spin like a pinwheel. Make the bombs have a fuse length so that there are a few 'safe spots' and a few 'kill zones'. Then add lasers that target the safe spots so players can't just sit in those forever. This would let the hercules and other heavy support/shielders (corsair, pally, possilby hurricane) take greater prominence as well as other current non-boss non-convoy tanks (fury, phantom, wolverine, mustang, the ones that shoot everywhere). Then if people want to hornet, they still can, and from relative safety. But they might not get loot (as is the case now) even more, and the overall effectiveness of the tank is reduced.
Don't kill the hornet, just make it so that it's a much smaller piece of the puzzle.
Not to be rude, but if you want a multidimensional attack force to be necessary to kill a boss. Don't make the boss so one dimensional.
